Our Story

Thank you for taking the time to shop with us at Broke Besties! My name is Kalie and I own and operate this sweet, small shop with my four-legged child, Ares, the French Bulldog. As I am designing, pressing and packaging orders, he is right by my side! If you find a Frenchie hair on your t-shirt, just know you are special and he had a hand in helping with your order! It's our custom package glitter!

I created Broke Besties as a side hobby with the dreams of my small business taking off and being able to use this as a full time job so that in the future, hopefully, I can quit my full time job and go back to school full-time to fulfill my dreams in the medical field. I am striving to get into Anesthesia or possibly even an Oncologist, as both professionals took the time with me and turned my life around in 2022. 

Those who know me, know that I am an open book about my journey in life, and if I can help the next person get through their struggle I will. In 2022, at the age of 24, I was misdiagnosed with PCOS and within a month I was in the hospital battling Ovarian Cancer. Newly wedded, being a mother and experiencing carrying life of my very own mini-me was a dream of mine!

Unfortunately, life had other plans and I am now unable to do that.. which is how I ended up with Ares and he never skips a beat. He is so full of personality and keeps me on my toes just like any human child would. He isn't a dog, he is my kid and I know my fellow dog mamas know where I am coming from!

I want to again, thank each and every one of you who helps me get this dream of mine taken off and supports me through this next journey of mine! As our shop keeps developing and changing, we look forward to growing with our customers and friends!
